The Chainsmokers EDM AuthorityWHAT IF THE CHAINSMOKERS ‘CLOSER’ WERE RELEASED IN THE 80’S? [LISTEN]

Love it or hate it, you have to admit ‘Closer’ is a very catchy song. And as it turns out, it would have been even more catchier if it was released in the 80’s.

DJ and producer TRONICBOX has been remixing today’s hits into 80’s versions of the songs. Artists including Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, and Calvin Harris have all had their songs remixed on the Youtube channel, and we’ve got to admit, they’ve all been pretty decent.

His latest instalment included taking one of The Chainsmokers’ songs back in time and transforming the upbeat, pop song into a slow, sultry jam. Renaming the duo as “The Marlboro Smokers”, Tronixbox show’s what “Closer” would have sounded like if it came out around 30 years earlier.

The track starts off with a slow intro consisting of keys and synths, and of course Drew’s vocals. A nice drum rhythm welcomes the chorus and rest of the song as it slowly builds throughout. One of the last “drops” has a killer guitar solo that really makes the track.

Take a listen to the remix below – Maybe play it to your parents, see if they approve.
