Dillon Francis continues to own 2018 with his latest release ‘We The Funk’ was dropped today.
To create the track, Francis teamed up with Miami-based singer Fuego and recorded the track during of a three-day session in Mexico, in which Francis also worked with Milkman, Jarina De Marco, Happy Colors, Matt Hunter and Jesse Baez.
“I’ve been really focused on having fun while making music. Fuego is a fun dude, so when we cut the song in Mexico, all the pieces fell together pretty quickly from there.”
We The Funk, and his release before last “Ven” is a nod to Francis’ roots as a producer who found his sound from Latin rhythms becoming one of the godfathers of the moombahton genre.
In an interview with Billboard, Dillon shared why now is a great time to release a Spanish-language Album. He explains that while songs like Despacito and Mi Gente are hugely successful at the moment, he has been doing this since 2011.
“I haven’t been doing reggaeton, but I’ve been doing moombahton, which is a genre that was created on the Internet, and it’s reggaeton meets dance music,” he says.
Both tracks are part of an upcoming Studio Album, the name is yet to be released. Fans should expect the album later this year on Francis’ IDGAFOS label.
